Who does Taylor look most like?
Over the last three weeks or so Taylor has grown increasingly stronger and lively. She’s been going to the pediatrician every other week since she was discharged from the hospital to have her weight checked. She continues to struggle with weight gain and is currently below the growth curve even for her adjusted age. Doctors want to make sure that it does not effect her development. We have been adding extra calories to her milk to fatten her up. Up until this last week it really wasn’t have much of an effect on her. Typically newborns should gain an ounce a day- Taylor has been gaining on average a little less than half an ounce a day. Since the end of last week, however, things have been much better. A weight check this morning suggests that since last Thursday she’s been gaining almost 2 ounces a day! Go Taylor! She hasn’t quite hit the 8 pound mark, but we are close and so proud of little Taylor!
A few weeks ago we got great news from the pulmonologist- Taylor’s lungs and heart are totally normally and she no longer needs to be on the monitor! We are thrilled. It’s a relief not to have to carry that monitor all around the house with her and we are so grateful knowing that her organs are working properly.
Last week Taylor had her second round of immunizations- aside from the crying there were no adverse reactions or setbacks. Another sigh of relief!
Overall, Taylor is developing beautifully. Everyday she is more aware of what’s going on around her. She is tracking objects and people that move in front of her with her eyes and seems to be chatting to herself at times. The best is that she is now starting to responsively smile at us – which is just so darn cute. I think she might have a dimple in one of her cheeks- also so darn cute! :)
Anyways we are so proud of her and just love watching her grow into the little person God has created her to be. She is such a blessing.
Here are a few pictures of Taylor in her summer dress.
The Hunt family had a wonderful day enjoying the great weather, grilling dinner, watching fireworks from home, and lighting a few of our own sparklers to celebrate the occassion. Here are a few pictures of our day together!
Sparkler fun in the front yard. River is amazed. :)
Watch me go!
My talented husband!
Today was Jeff’s first Father’s Day- and he celebrated by sleeping in :) … and spending time with little Miss Taylor of course! Here are a few pictures from our fun day relaxing at home.

This is Jeff teaching Taylor how to rock out… or it’s Taylor yawning…:)
Thank you Jeff for being such a wonderful hunsband and father. We love you!
This past week Jeff’s mom came to town and has been a tremendous help. Here are a few pictures from her visit thus far.
Glam grandma. :)
Taylor and Grandma napping together.
And three generations of Hunts.
Last week Taylor had several follow up doctor appointments. Although Taylor is still gaining weight the pediatrician would like to see her gaining more. She’s just under 6 1/2 pounds- still at about the bottom 3% of babies her age. On a better note, the eye doctor says that all signs of ROP – an eye disease common in extreme preemies -are gone! Praise the Lord! Taylor also saw several specialists about her finger. It has healed remarkably well and Taylor seems to be using it without any pain. The doctors will continue to follow it’s growth, however, to make sure that there are no complications and that it grows as it should. Please continue to pray for complete healing and recovery of Taylor’s finger. Thanks for checking in on our little fighter and for your prayers. We are so proud of her!
This past week Taylor received her first visitor- her Grandma Darlene. Mom and Dad were more than happy to have an extra set of hands to help as they continue to adjust to having Taylor at home. River was happy to have one more person to play with her! Grandma was a HUGE help and we were very happy to have her for the week. Here are a few pictures from Grandma’s visit.
As you can tell Taylor liked napping with her Grandma. :)
Look at that happy baby :)
Three generations!
Everyday Taylor grows stronger. She is eating more than she used to and developing well. We are all very proud of our little fighter. I know we are partial– but really — isn’t she just adorable?!
Last weekend marked Taylor’s first week home. Mom, Dad, and River (the puppy) are much happier now that Taylor is hanging out with them 24/7. According to doctor’s orders, Taylor came home on an apnea monitor which measures all of Taylor’s breathing and her heartbeats to make sure nothing is wrong. She has already been to her first appointment with the pediatrician and we are watching her weight very closely. Although she’s just over 6 pounds, she is still in the bottom 3% of babies her age in terms of weight. The pediatrician ordered that she should get extra calories so we are adding special preemie formula to her bottles to make sure she is getting all the nutrients she needs to grow. Last weekend we took our first family pictures at home. Here are a few of our favorites.
Hunt Family Homecoming!

Mom loves Taylor!
And River loves Taylor too! :)
After Taylor’s first photo shoot on the back balcony – we took her for a stroll around the neighborhood.
Everyone had a great weekend! Thanks for praying for Taylor. She is making great progress and we are just so very happy to finally have her home!
We just finished Taylor’s announcement. We’re so excited to celebrate her homecoming with all our friends and family.
Dear Friends and Family,
On March 1, 2009, at 1:07pm EST, our daughter came into this world through an emergency c-section in order to save both her life and her mother’s. Taylor was more than three months early. We are firm believers in the power of prayer and ask that you join us to pray for Taylor Christine Hunt (our daughter). We expect to be leaving the NICU soon and bringing Taylor home. Every hour is a battle for Taylor and knowing that people are praying for her and us will get us through these tough times.
Thank you for everything,
Jeff and Nicole
March 1, 2009 (Day 1) – Taylor has stabilized and Nicole is recovering. Nicole is not yet well enough to go to the NICU to visit Taylor. I got a chance to go up there twice. Right now, doctors are encouraging us to simply talk and touch her. They say viability dramatically increases when parents visit often. They also warned us that things are probably going to get worse before they get better. Please continue to lift Taylor and Nicole in your prayers.
For Nicole – To have her kidneys functioning again.
For Taylor – To have her breathing on her own.
March 2, 2009 (Day 2) – Taylor made it through the previous night and day just fine. All her vitals are right where they need to be. Our nurse even told us with glee that she is pooping. At this stage in life, every little act is a miracle! Mom is recovering well too as her kidneys and blood pressure return to normal and she is no longer in a critical condition. One of the greatest moments of our lives was when Nicole and Taylor were reunited for a few minutes. Taylor definitely recognized mom’s voice and touch. Grandma Hunt even made a special trip to see little Taylor. Hourly she grows stronger.
Praises: Nicole has moved from the labor and delivery unit to the recovery wing. Her kidneys and blood pressure are normalizing. Every day with Taylor is a miracle. We’re so blessed she is growing stronger.
For Nicole – To continue to recover and gather strength.
For Taylor – To have her breathing on her own and to avoid any infections.
I want to reaffirm you all that PRAYERS ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE. We can feel the hope and joy that comes from all your thoughts and prayers. Today, day 2, was a miracle because we got another day with Taylor. PLEASE continue to pray for her. Every hour is critical.
March 3, 2009 (Day 3) – We’re quickly learning that this is a process where we take 2 steps forward and 1 step back. Taylor is eating intravenously just fine and keeping her mother’s milk down. At the same time, her breathing has become more labored and she is now on a full pressurized ventilator. Mom, Grandma, and Dad got a lot of time with her today and she loved the company. Drs continue to reassure us that her vitals are strong but anything could change.
Praises – Nicole is recovering very well – beginning to walk and feeling much better. She’s ready to head home to finish her recovery soon. Taylor is with us for another day, fighting strong, and eating well.
For Nicole – Continued recovery and energy.
For Taylor – To keep her food down and to begin breathing on her own.
I want to thank everyone for everything you are doing. We are so blessed by the prayers, support, and encouragement. Your prayers and God’s amazing grace gave us another day with our daughter and we are so grateful!
March 4, 2009 (Day 4) – Today was a mixed bag. We started and ended the day with the good news that Taylor was stable, sleeping, and doing well overall. In the middle of the day, we were informed that Taylor has PDA, a common but serious condition with premies. They began a drug regiment and blood transfusion at about 10pm EST in an effort to fix it. We’ll find out in a few days if this was successful. We’re hoping to avoid surgery with this medicine.
Praises – Nicole is going home tomorrow! We had another day with Taylor and she loved all the attention. The nurses say Taylor fights them every step of the way which is a great sign that she is going to fight for her life. She has attitude!
For Nicole – Continued recovery. She is in a lot of pain from the surgery and is still dealing with the swelling.
For Taylor – The medicine to address PDA would work, she could breathe on her own, and that she can continue to eat.
We are so thankful for the outpouring of prayers, emails, phone calls, visits, etc. You have brought us to tears with your kindness and we’re grateful for every encouragement. Please keep praying for Taylor’s sake.
March 5, 2009 (Day 5) – Today was a great day! Nicole is home to continue her recovery and Taylor’s heart was acting normally. The medicine they gave Taylor seems to be working. They have two more doses to give over the next 24 hours and they’ll monitor from there. All current assessments show that her valves are closing properly. Taylor continues to exhibit a feisty spirit anytime a nurse tries to change her diaper, address her breathing, or move her. Begin to mess with her and her limbs flail about in protest. It’s that spirit that will take her through the NICU and home to mom and dad.
Praises – NICOLE IS HOME!!! Taylor’s heart is better and her dependence on the breathing machine is lessening.
For Nicole – Quick recovery at home.
For Taylor – Her PDA would be cured and the problem valves would seal shut. We also are praying for stronger lungs and greater weight gain.
Bringing Nicole home was a big step today. Praise God! There were so many close moments this past week that taking Nicole home is a time to pause, reflect, and give praise. Thank you for all your love and support.
March 6, 2009 (Day 6) – Little Taylor continues to impress us with her strength and will to live. Her breathing gets better with each hour and there are confirmed rumors that she may be coming off the ventilator soon. All her vitals look good and she continues to stabilize.
Praises – Mom is feeling much better and Grandma Hunt is providing incredible TLC to hasten her healing.
For Nicole – Continued recovery and the discipline to rest. Just like her daughter, these Hunt girls don’t like to stay tied down.
For Taylor – That her PDA would be cured, she would breathe easily on her own, she would gain weight, and she would avoid infections.
Thanks again for all your prayers. You continue to amaze us with your kindness.
March 7, 2009 (Day 7) – Today was very difficult for us. A terrible incident took place in the NICU and Taylor’s left middle finger was nearly completely severed. A plastic surgeon specializing in hands was rushed in to reattach her finger. Because her finger was so small, all they could do was sew it together without setting any bones. We’re passionately praying for complete healing and the ability to save her finger and regain full use.
Praises – Taylor is now breathing almost completely on her own with only a little help from a respirator. She is also gaining weight, and her jaundice is gone!
For Nicole – Continued recovery and a spirit of hope following today’s events with Taylor. Watching something like this happen to your child is extremely painful.
For Taylor – Her finger would heal perfectly and that she would have full mobility and feeling in it. She would continue to gain weight, avoid infections, and continue to strengthen her lungs.
God continues to remind us that we must rely upon him to get through these difficult days. Thank you for walking and praying with us.
March 8, 2009 (Day 8) – Today was a great day. Taylor’s finger continues to improve, as does her breathing, and her ability to digest food. A low-key day with Taylor resting and growing strong.
Praises – Taylor’s finger has good color, her breathing is strong, and she is beginning to eat again.
For Nicole – Continued rest in the midst of all the demands that come with being a new mom.
For Taylor – Her finger would continue to heal, her breathing would strengthen, she would avoid infections, and she would gain more weight.
March 9, 2009 (Day 9) – Taylor continues to improve and grow stronger. Her finger looks better, her breathing is consistent, and she is back on her mother’s milk.
Praises – Nicole is recovering well, Taylor made it through the day fine and remains stable. She also entertains all the nurses with her beautiful smile and lively personality.
For Nicole – Continued recovery, rest, and quality time with her daughter.
For Taylor – Her lungs, heart, and body would grow stronger, she would gain weight, be able to digest her food, and her finger would make a full recovery.
Thank you again for all your support through this roller coaster of emotions. God, our family, and our friends remain our strength through these trying times.
March 10, 2009 (Day 10) – Taylor continues to grow stronger. Her breathing has stabilized, she is keeping her food down, and her finger looks to be healing well.
Praises – Nicole is feeling better and getting quality time with her daughter. Taylor is stable, sleeping a lot, and growing stronger.
For Nicole – To get more rest and for her body to heal quickly.
For Taylor – Her blood was sent to test for 50 different diseases and that the results would determine that she is a perfectly healthy and happy little girl. Also that her lungs would continue to develop, she would avoid infection, and that she would gain weight.
Special Prayer Request – Please pray for the doctors and nurses. Their wisdom, attention, and care are critical to Taylor’s success.
March 11, 2009 (Day 11) – A great day for the Hunt family! Mom was able to hold Taylor for the first time – 11 days after she was born. Taylor’s vitals are strong and she continues to put on weight.
Praises – The opportunity for mom to hold Taylor was an inspiring moment for the entire family. Today was most definitely a day to celebrate.
For Nicole – She has a doctor’s appointment tomorrow to follow up on her surgery. Please pray everything goes well and she can wrap up her recovery at home quickly.
For Taylor – That her lungs continue to grow stronger, her finger would recover completely, she continues to put on weight, and she would avoid infections.
We’re learning to celebrate the simple acts of life, like personal touch. Today is a day of praise and thanksgiving. Thank you all for walking with us through both the difficult and joyful times.
March 12, 2009 (Day 12) – Nicole had a good check up with her doctor and will continue recovering from home. Taylor had a stable day, is eating more food, and her finger is improving.
Praises – Nicole is healing right on track. Taylor is growing stronger and healthier.
For Nicole – Continued rest so she can spend longer periods of time with Taylor at the NICU.
For Taylor – She would digest her food better, take bigger portions, and gain more weight. She would avoid infections and continue to breathe well on her own.
We are definitely a family worn down by the last 12 days. Your prayers and God’s amazing grace are the strength we need for the next day. Thank you!
March 13, 2009 (Day 13) – Today was one of those precious, uneventful days we’ve been longing for. Taylor continues to do well, eating more food and breathing on her own. Nicole is recovering and getting to spend more time with Taylor.
Praises – The amount of food Taylor is eating has increased dramatically, her finger looks great, and she is breathing well. Nicole is recovering well and getting her energy and strength back.
For Nicole – Continued recovery. Nicole aims to be back at work on Monday, March 23. This next week is critical for her to fully recuperate.
For Taylor – She continues to keep her food down, takes bigger portions, and digests it well. Her lungs would continue to grow and she would avoid any infections.
Taylor is astounding the doctors and nurses with her incredible development. She is much further along than she should be at 29 weeks. We’re giving all the credit to our good God and your prayers. They are making a difference. Keep it up!
March 14, 2009 (Day 14) – Today was another day of growth and rest for Taylor. We’ve discovered that she is just like her daddy when it comes to sleeping – she prefers sleeping on her tummy with her mouth wide open.
Praises: Grandpa Hunt came to town to visit with Taylor and he also helped Jeff put together Taylor’s dresser and changing table. Now all the major pieces for Taylor’s nursery are in place and all we need to do is decorate and bring Taylor home! Taylor continues to digest her food well enough for the doctors to increase the amount of milk she is being fed. After 14 days, Taylor has gained a whopping 2 ounces- she now weighs 1lb, 11 ounces. The doctors are very pleased with her weight gain considering that it usually takes even longer for preemies just to get back up to their birth weight.
For Taylor: That Taylor would digest her food, gain weight, and continue to poop on her own. She would continue to breathe deeply and consistently and her finger would fully heal. For peaceful, deep, sleep so that she would conserve her energy for growing.
For Nicole: Complete recovery from her surgery and the ability to spend longer periods of time with Taylor at the NICU.
For Jeff: For rest. After 14 days of taking care of both of the women in his family he is one tired papa.
March 15, 2009 (Day 15) – Taylor did great today on almost all fronts. She is eating more and more of her mom’s milk daily. Just a week ago she was eating 1 cc of milk, tonight she is up to 11 ccs. She is also breathing better and growing stronger.
Praises – Taylor’s breathing is normalizing, though she still has problems breathing when she eats. Nicole is recovering well and getting to spend more time with Taylor in the NICU.
For Nicole – Rest and complete recovery of her abdomen.
For Taylor – She would breathe better while eating, continue to increase in the quantity of her feeds, avoid infections, and add weight. The hand surgeon will be stopping by on Tuesday for an exam. Pray that her finger would fully recover and we can continue holding her soon.
It’s amazing to think 2 weeks have passed already. Taylor has progressed so much because of your faithful prayers. Please keep them up!
March 16, 2009 (Day 16) – Taylor continues to amaze us all with her progress. She is now up to 13 ccs of her mom’s milk, a nearly full feeding for a baby, and currently weighs more than she did at birth.
Praises – Taylor’s blood tests came back and she tested negative for any major diseases. She now weighs 1lb 12 ounces – a full 3 ounces over her birth weight, and she has all of her stomach tubes removed. She is just about ready to take all her fluids, meals, and meds orally.
For Nicole – Continued recovery and rest before starting back to work next week.
For Taylor – She is still struggling to breathe while she feeds. Please continue to pray that her heart and lungs can remain strong and constant. Also that she avoids any infections and can be held again soon.
March 17, 2009 (Day 17) – Taylor again added to her weight – now 1lb 13 ounces. She is on full feeds and breathing better.
Praises – Taylor’s weight gain is promising and her finger is healing very well.
For Nicole – Continued rest and recovery.
For Taylor – She would continue to gain weight. We want to see her above 2 lbs soon. Pray her breathing would also improve. She had a blood transfusion today to replace her blood with higher oxygenated blood. She has a check up with the hand surgeon tomorrow and if all goes well, we can begin holding her again. Also pray that she would avoid infections or any other complications.
Both Nicole and I are running very tired these days. Your prayers and support mean so much to us. Please keep them up!
March 18, 2009 (Day 18) – A great day for the Hunt family! Taylor was cleared by the hand surgeon to be held again and both mom and dad took turns holding her. After 18 days, Dad finally got to hold his daughter for the first time.
Praises – Taylor’s finger looks great, she was breathing better today, and she gained a little bit of weight.
For Nicole – Continued rest and recovery as getting back to work is just around the corner.
For Taylor – She would gain more weight, her breathing would strengthen, and she would avoid infections.
The doctors and nurses are constantly talking about Taylor’s incredible progress. Nicole and I just smile knowing that it’s God’s good grace and your prayers that are the reason. Thank you for everything!
March 19, 2009 (Day 19) – Today was a stable day for Taylor. She maintained her weight, her finger looks good, and she rested well.
Praises – Nicole got to spend a lot of time holding Taylor today. It was a great day for Mom and Daughter bonding.
For Nicole – Continued rest and recovery. Both Mom and Dad are running low on energy these days.
For Taylor – Please pray that Taylor continues to gain weight. She has remained steady at 1lb 13 ounces for the past 3 days. We’re hoping to get to 2 lbs soon. Also pray that her breathing remains constant, especially during her feeds. Finally, that she would avoid any infections.
March 20, 2009 (Day 20) – Another great and stable day for Taylor!
Praises – Taylor gained weight today – now 1lb 14 ounces. The doctors tell us that the road to 3 lbs is slow, but once Taylor reaches that mark, she’ll gain weight quickly. She also did a good job breathing and digesting her food. In addition, Nicole was cleared to head back to work on Monday by her doctors.
For Nicole – Continued rest this weekend and full healing of her abdomen.
For Taylor – Most important at this stage is that she continues to gain weight and breathe well on her own. Pray that she can hit that 2lb mark soon and her lungs will continue to develop. Also please pray that she avoids any infections or diseases.
Thank you all for your continued support. The doctors and nurses are very optimistic and hopeful with Taylor’s progress.
March 21, 2009 (Day 21) – We have a 2lb baby girl!!!
Praises – Taylor reached a full 2lbs today. Her feedings have increased, she is growing bigger, and her breathing was strong.
For Nicole – Continued rest and preparation for a return to work next week.
For Taylor – She would add weight daily, her breathing would normalize, and she would avoid any infections. Taylor had some tests come back that showed a small problem with her thyroid. She is on medication and we’re praying that this small problem will disappear quickly.
The 2lb milestone was very important for Taylor. Thank you for your continued prayers and support. Now on to 3lbs!!!
March 22, 2009 (Day 22) – It’s incredible how Taylor continues to grow. Looking back at her birth date – 3 weeks ago today – Taylor has come so far!
Praises – Taylor did well today – she digested her food and her breathing was strong.
For Nicole – She heads back to work tomorrow. Pray that she can balance the demands of her job and the demands of a NICU baby as well.
For Taylor – The hand surgeon is stopping by tomorrow to review Taylor’s finger. All doctors believe she will be able to keep her finger, questions remain on future treatment. Please pray that her finger would heal naturally without much intervention. Also, please pray that Taylor continues to gain weight, can breathe better on her own, and avoid any infections.
In many ways, this has been both the longest and shortest 3 weeks of our lives. Thank you for your continued prayers. They are making a big difference for all 3 of us!
March 23, 2009 (Day 23) – A good day of growth for Taylor.
Praises – The hand surgeon reviewed Taylor’s hand and believes that a simple splinting should allow the bone to heal correctly. Taylor continued to add weight and Mom was back at work changing the world.
Prayer for Taylor – That she would continue to grow, develop, and add weight. She would learn to breathe on her own and she would avoid infections.
Prayer for her parents – Continued energy and quality rest during these trying times.
March 24, 2009 (Day 24) – A tougher day for Taylor and the Hunt Family.
Praises – Taylor was stable today. Her breathing was strong, she digested her food well, and she got a lot of rest.
Prayers for Taylor – Taylor has lost weight in the last day. As a result, we stopped holding her with the hope she could conserve energy. Please pray that she would add weight and continue to develop well. She still needs help breathing with her apnea of prematurity (AOP) and needs to avoid infections. Please pray for those as well.
Prayers for her Parents – The ups and downs of having a baby in the NICU are emotionally trying. Please pray for good restoration at night and strength through these times.
Thank you all for your prayers and encouraging words. They mean so much to us!
March 25, 2009 (Day 25) – A mixed day for Taylor.
Praises – She gained a whole 2 ounces! Her vitals were stable for the most part with only a few moments of slow breathing and slow heart beats.
Prayers for Taylor – We found out today that Taylor is having some inflammation in her tummy. They are monitoring her with X-Rays and blood tests. The worry is that her inflammation will turn into an infection. In some extreme cases, doctors have removed part of a baby’s intestines to combat the infection. Please pray that the inflammation will disappear, her blood will return to normal, and she will avoid any infections. Also, please continue to pray that she’ll gain weight.
Prayers for her Parents – The saying that having a NICU baby is like riding a roller coaster is pretty accurate. We’re going through tremendous highs and lows. Please pray for hope, faith, and trust through this journey.
Thank you for all your emails, prayers, words of encouragements. They mean so much to us.
March 26, 2009 (Day 26) – A steady day for Taylor.
Praises – Taylor did great with her breathing and heart rate today and Dad got to hold her this evening with no incidents.
Prayers for Taylor – Taylor’s tummy issue remained the same. Both her blood work and x-rays revealed something fishy taking place in her tummy. Please continue to pray that the inflammation would recede and that she would avoid any infections. The doctors are monitoring her very closely and have reduced the calories in her feeding to stabilize her tummy. Also, Taylor has not gained any weight in a few days. Please pray that she would pack on those pounds.
Prayers for her Parents – We’re pretty tired by the end of the week. Continued prayers for energy and focus at work are appreciated.
Your prayers are giving us so much strength, hope, and joy. Thank you all so much!

March 28, 2009 (Day 28) – A growing day for Taylor and a restful day for her parents.
Praises – Taylor gained another 2 ounces! She’s now 2lbs 4 ounces. Doctors monitored her stomach and found nothing to indicate an infection. She did well with her breathing and continues to develop into a strong, healthy baby.
Prayers for Taylor – Taylor seems to be on a good streak gaining weight. Please pray this would continue and her body would further develop. Also, please pray her breathing and heart rate would strengthen.
Prayers for her Parents – Continued rest and recovery this weekend.
We’re astonished at Taylor’s growth and development despite her challenges. Thank you all for your continued prayers!
March 29, 2009 (Day 29) – Happy 1 Month Birthday!!! Taylor has been with us and fighting for life an entire 4 weeks!
Praises – Doctors are optimistic on nearly every front. She is developing well, her finger looks good, and tummy should be just fine. She’s also increased her feedings and seems to tolerate them well.
Prayers for Taylor – She is still below the curve on her development and weight. Please pray she would catch up to most babies her age, grow strong, and remain healthy. Also, please pray her breathing and heart rate would strengthen.
Prayer for her Parents – Energy and focus as we head back to work.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers. We’re hoping to be 1/3 of the way through this. You all have been so pivotal to our success thus far, thank you!
March 30, 2009 (Day 30) – A growing day for Taylor.
Praises – Taylor did great today. She is now up to 2lbs 5 ounces, her breathing is strong, and she continues to develop well. We’re excited each morning by her progress.
Prayers for Taylor – Most important for her at this time is that she continues to grow. Please pray she would gain weight and her vital organs would develop well. Doctors are concerned with the size of her head and resulting brain development being behind the curve. Pray her brain/head would catch up and develop well.
Prayers for her Parents – Focus and energy at work. We both serve wonderful bosses and we want to give our best during our work hours.
Mondays are always a bit of a shock to our systems. We’re up early and we stay late at the hospital. Pray for energy, wisdom, and strength this week. Thank you all for your continued prayers.
March 31, 2009 (Day 31) – Taylor continues to gain weight.
Praises – Taylor is now a big 2lbs 6 ounces and growing! She did well with her breathing and feeding and continues to give us a lot of hope.
Prayers for Taylor – Continued growth and development for her entire body. The preeclampsia not only brought Taylor to us early, it restricted blood flow to her while in the womb and thus she is small and underdeveloped for her age. Please pray her body would catch up, her breathing would strengthen, and she would avoid any infections.
Prayers for her Parents – We would get to spend more time with Taylor and that our down time would be restful and restorative.
Thank you all for your continued support. Every act of encouragement means so much to us.
April 1, 2009 (Day 32) – A stable day for Taylor.
Praises – Taylor’s feedings continue to increase, her breathing was stable, and she had a good, restful day overall.
Prayers for Taylor – She leveled off today at 2lbs 6 ounces after a few days of growth. Please pray that she would continue to gain weight and develop. We’re also praying that she would avoid any infections and that her breathing would strengthen.
Prayers for her Parents – We have some important decisions ahead regarding Taylor’s care. Please pray for wisdom that the best decisions would be made. We also need prayers for rest, energy, and strength as we near the end of the week.
A new month begins for Taylor! Daily she continues to strengthen and develop. Thank you for all your continued prayers and support.
April 2, 2009 (Day 33) – Taylor and her parents prepare for a possible transfer.
Praises – Today, Taylor gained weight, her breathing was strong, and she continued to develop well.
Prayers for Taylor – If everything goes as expected, she will be transferred to a different hospital sometime tomorrow. This transfer will be made via ambulance and take about 25 minutes. Please pray for safe transportation between the hospitals and that her new doctors and nurses would take excellent care of her.
Prayers for her Parents – We have a lot to navigate tomorrow morning with regards to final approval for the transfer. Please pray for wisdom and discernment and that the process would go smoothly.
The transfer is something we’ve been thinking about for a while. Both we and the doctors feel that Taylor is stable enough to make the trip. Tomorrow is a crucial day for all us, please keep us in your prayers.
April 3, 2009 (Day 34) – Taylor’s transfer on hold.
Praises – Taylor continued to gain weight today – a big 2lbs 8 ounces (2 1/2lbs.) She also had her eye exam and the doctor found nothing problematic. She is increasing her feeds and her breathing is getting much stronger.
Prayers for Taylor – We got the transfer approved by both hospitals, a whole set of doctors, and our insurance company this morning.
